Mission Statement

"Bethany House Ministries is an incorporated non-profit organization established in 1993 for the purpose of supporting those in full time ministry by providing a peaceful setting for rest and renewal."

The Bethany Story    

We have prayerfully sought God's direction for this ministry since the early 1980's. In our search, we have been guided by the following verses of scripture:

 "Many peoples will come and say, 'come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us His ways so that we may walk in His paths.' " Isaiah 2:3

 " 'Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.'"   Mark 6:31

 After pondering these thoughts for some time, the concept of a small retreat center gradually formed in our minds. We believed that this was to be designed in the style of a cozy inn with a series of individual cottages and that the focus would primarily be to support leaders in ministry.  

In order to fulfill that purpose, we knew that we needed to find the perfect setting.  When we came upon this property in the Blue Ridge Mountains in September of 1993, we truly believed we had discovered a gem.  It was, however, a "diamond in the rough" which required years of painstaking effort before anyone else would come to see it as a thing of beauty.  

We are still refining our gem (and ask for your patience with this work in progress) but gladly share our humble beginnings.  The cottage that is currently available is charming and has served more than adequately for small retreats and innumerable peaceful get-aways.  It has played host to current and retired clergy, ministry leaders and missionaries from many lands. For some of our guests, a visit to Bethany has become an annual ritual and is now as much their "home away from home" as ours.

The dream of Bethany has been held close in our hearts and at the front of our prayers for more than two decades.  We continue to delight in the way that God has used such a simple setting to do great things and hold fast to the hope that it will grow and continue to be a blessing for years to come. While we have become accustomed to and content with our quaint facility, we still feel the stirring to dream for more.  We have prepared sketches and requested estimates for the construction of future units.  This is a big and an exciting dream, as well as an enormous undertaking. We are so grateful for the support and prayers of others as we seek to bring these dreams to reality.  

In the midst of our own challenging lives, we have often been renewed and comforted with the thought of sweet times at "Bethany"...savoring the Lord's peaceful presence along with the refreshing breezes, beautiful views and abundant wildlife.  He gave this to us so that many would have such powerful and rejuvenating memories to savor; our goal and purpose is to see to it that this wealth is shared.  

Our prayer is for the Lord's will to be fully accomplished for this ministry and that through this work, His people would better know the tenderness of His touch.  Thank you for your interest in Bethany House Ministries.  We pray God's richest blessings upon you and look forward to hearing from you!
